Andy Kim is running for Congress in New Jersey against Rep. Tom MacArthur

Andy Kim recently announced that he is exploring a run for congress in the Third District of New Jersey, currently held by Rep. Tom MacArthur. You may recognize MacArthur from the amendment that bears his name, an amendment critical to the passage of the repeal legislation.

Andy was born and raised in the Third — and went on to represent New Jersey as a Rhodes Scholar and Truman Scholar. He had a prestigious career in national security, including stints as an advisor to General Davids Petraeus and Ambassador Chris Stevens. Most recently, he served as a policy advisor to President Obama on Iraq.

In this episode, Andy discusses living on a cattle ranch for two years (8:30), Rep. Tom MacArthur’s role in the healthcare repeal (13:10), advising President Obama and General Petraeus on Iraq and Afghanistan policy (22:27), the Mount Sinjar massacre in Northern Iraq (31:40), redistricting reform (38:30), and his relationship with Ambassador Chris Stevens, who was killed in the 2012 Benghazi attacks (40:00).

If you like what you hear, you can commit to donate to his prospective campaign.

UPDATE: Andy is in. He has officially entered The Arena and declared his candidacy.
