Development Director

Job Description

We -- The Arena -- are hiring a Development Director to lead fundraising efforts for the organization as well as coach and support Arena Fellows (candidates for office) on their fundraising efforts. The Development Director will report to our Managing Partner. We are a small organization, so this position requires not just hustle, vision, and creativity, but also a willingness and flexibility to provide assistance when needed on projects outside of this job description. This position is full-time, based in New York City, and includes a comprehensive benefits package.


  • Secure financial support from individuals and institutions
  • Manage the implementation of our donor database
  • Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with donors
  • Create and execute a strategy for a large sustained base of annual individual donors
  • Overseeing organization of special events for The Arena and the Joint Fundraising Committee of Arena-backed candidates
  • Coach and support Arena Fellows (candidates for office) on their fundraising strategy

We convene the next generation of leaders at The Arena Summits, connect them with like-minded collaborators through The Arena Community, and -- for members of our community who decide to run for office -- support a subset of their candidacies through The Arena PAC Fellowship.

We design all of our programs to fit together to ensure that new leaders have a conveyor belt of support as they enter the civic and political world.
